Frank Ramirez

Executive Director

Frank has dedicated over 15 years to promoting college access in the Central Valley. He brings a wealth of knowledge into the organization due to his experience working at CSU, Bakersfield as a Financial Aid Counselor; UC Merced as Admissions Coordinator; and founding board member of Y2LEF. Being born, raised and educated in the Central Valley brings a personal connection with the community and commitment to helping students reach their higher education goals.

Jasmine Padilla

Assistant Director

Jasmine attended California State University, Bakersfield, earning both undergraduate and graduate degree in Business and Public Administration (2009) and Educational Counseling, emphasis in Student Affairs (2012). Raised in a single-family home and the oldest of three. Credits majority of professional and personal success to parents, especially her mother.

Lupe Avila

Program Coordinator

Lupe graduated from CSU Bakersfield with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a Masters degree in Educational Counseling with an emphasis in Student Affairs. She is highly experienced in working with a diverse population of students and parents, specifically with the migrant population and Spanish speaking communities. As a first generation college student herself. Lupe is a strong advocate for higher education and her hopes and aspirations include: to continue helping students in their educational journey to achieve their academic and career goals. "Education brings about opportunity, and in turn inspiration.

Maria Moreno

Program Coordinator

Maria attended Bakersfield College, then transferred to UC Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Education. After coming back to the Central Valley, she attended CSU Bakersfield, where she earned a master’s degree in Educational Counseling. She has previous experience working as a counseling intern and advisor in both high school and colleges around Kern County. Maria is passionate about helping students reach their fullest potential and reach their educational goals.

Veronica Vega

AmeriCorps Member/Foster Youth Initiative

Veronica is a first generation university graduate. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice at CSU Bakersfield. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Counseling, with an emphasis in Student Affairs. As a member of Y2L, Veronica will be providing various supplemental enrichment workshops to our community’s foster youth students in helping them for their future to pursue a higher education and/or go into the workforce.

Cristal Rodriguez

AmeriCorps Member/Foster Youth Initiative

Cristal is the Foster Youth Initiative at Y2L and an AmeriCorps member working closely with the Dream Center to provide mentoring and resources for our youth. Cristal is here to let you all know that it’s never too late to pursue your goals and achieve them. Everyone grows at their own pace and what matters is getting across the finish line. Cristal is currently a student at the California State University of Bakersfield getting her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. She plans to get her teaching credentials and further her education and get a Masters in Educational Counseling. In addition, she plans to join the PeaceCorps and help serve youth in other countries. ¡Si se Puede!

Ivan Gonzalez

Program Assistant

Ivan is a first-generation university graduate, from UC Berkeley with a major in Social Welfare and a minor in Education (2017). He is passionate about helping minority students maximize their professional and personal goals. Ivan continues to reach his next academic goal and attain his Master's in Social Work next fall in pursuit of becoming a School Social Worker for the community of the Central Valley. Credits professional and personal success to anyone who helped him throughout his high school and undergraduate career with little or large gestures, they all made a positive impact in his life.

Jorge A. Aguilar

Designer & Front-end Developer

Jorge is actively involved in all aspects of design and technology on the Y2L foundation's portal, he brings his notable experience and knowledge across all disciplines from the visual design to the front-end architecture. Jorge’s specialties include web development, content management system, UI/UX design, advertising, programming, and search optimization.

Eleazar Gutierrez

Public Policy & Government Relations Manager

Eleazar is the Public Policy and Government Relations Manager at Y2L. Currently, Eleazar is working in Washington D.C. promoting different matters in access to higher education. Eleazar regularly shares internship and scholarship opportunities for Kern County students. Eleazar is a graduate of Arvin High School and CSU Bakersfield.
